two day Stay
We really enjoyed our stay at Clisham;
especially the quality of the breakfast.
One of the best we ever had.
tomatoes tasting the real thing ! and so on ...
adding the comfortable room with sea view and the kindness of our hostess,
we highly recommend this address.

Brilliant Weekend
We enjoyed a two night stay with Diane at her beautiful B&B. The house is very tastefully decorated and little touches like a first aid kit in the bedroom and shampoo with conditioner in en-suite just add to the appeal. Breakfast is delicious with a varied menu to suit everyone. We would thoroughly recommend staying here and hope to return very soon.

Isle of Arran SCOTCH MISSED

My B&B was further on still, though, in tiny Pirnmill. In theory B&Bs seem the obvious cheery retreat after a remote rural walk, but I had my doubts. Too often such establishments find you sitting down at the shared breakfast table to free extra grease in the full English and conversation with retired accountant types whose crankish political views flow forth at the slightest provocation.

But at Clisham B&B the proprietor, Mrs McDonald, virtually reinvented the category for me. She had somehow pulled off the trick - I'm still wondering how - of decorating in such a way as to appeal conceivably to every generation. Her breakfasts were addictively plump (fans of the perfect poached egg may want to stay here for that reason alone) and the view from the front bedroom window a great chunk of that slightly melancholy sea and sky that nonetheless beckoned you to keep exploring the next day.
